Real Estate Newbies exists for one reason: buying a first home is confusing, and most of the information out there is written for people who already understand the vocabulary. We wanted a starting point that assumes nothing — no prior knowledge, no finance background, no shame in asking "wait, what's escrow again?"

This site is built around three things: a 12-step interactive roadmap that breaks the whole process into manageable pieces, nine in-depth guides covering the topics that trip up first-timers most, and a 40-term glossary so you're never stuck decoding jargon mid-article.

What this site is not

It's not financial, legal, or real estate advice, and it's not a lender, brokerage, or agent. Every dollar figure, rate, and percentage you see here is an illustrative, simplified example meant to build your intuition — not a quote. Before you make real decisions, talk to a licensed lender, real estate agent, or financial advisor who can look at your actual numbers.

How the content works

Guides are dated so you can see how fresh they are, and figures that move with the market (interest rates, typical closing-cost percentages) are explicitly marked as illustrative and worth double-checking. We'd rather be clear about what we don't know than make something up to sound authoritative.
